Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Statewide Independent Living Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Lisa Cook-Gordon of Melvin and Sara Grivetti of Midland to the Statewide Independent Living Council.

The 16-member council, 11 of whom are appointed by the Governor, works to develop a statewide plan for independent living to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Michigan.

“I thank Lisa and Sara for their continued commitment to helping Michiganders with disabilities live independent lives,” Snyder said.

Cook-Gordon retired in 2013 from her position as a transition consultant and manager of Michigan Family to Family Health Information and Education Center for Southeastern Michigan Health Association. She is currently a volunteer co-director for Michigan Family Voices. Cook-Gordon holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan-Flint and a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University. She will continue to represent parents or guardians of individuals with disabilities.

Grivetti is the CEO of Disability Network of Michigan. She is a graduate of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Leadership Institute holds a bachelor's degree in management from Northwood University and a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent individuals with disabilities.

Members serve three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2020.
