Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Child Lead Exposure Elimination Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Christine Callahan of DeWitt and William (Bill) Ridella of Detroit to the Child Lead Exposure Elimination Commission. 

The 21-member commission is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services and acts in an advisory capacity to the governor and the director of the department. It also coordinates and collaborates with all levels of government and stakeholders regarding programs and policies related to the elimination of childhood lead exposure.

“I thank Christine and Bill for helping identify ways to reduce sources of lead exposure for Michigan children statewide,” Snyder said.

Callahan is the director of the Office of Innovative Projects for the Clinton County Regional Educational Service Agency. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. She will continue to represent a member with a background in early childhood education and development.

Ridella is the director and health officer for the Macomb County Health Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master of public health from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a master’s in business administration from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent a local health department.

Callahan and Ridella will serve four-year terms to expire Dec.15, 2021.
