Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Child Lead Exposure Elimination Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Trina Townsend of Grand Blanc to the Child Lead Exposure Elimination Commission. 

The 21-member commission is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services and acts in an advisory capacity to the governor and the department director. It also coordinates and collaborates with all levels of government and stakeholders regarding programs and policies related to the elimination of childhood lead exposure.

“I thank Trina for her dedication to the health and wellness of Michigan children,” Snyder said.

Townsend is a nurse supervisor for the Health Plan Management System - Hurley Nurse Family Partnership as well as the founder, owner and general manager of Bright Vision Services, an adult foster care and semi-independent living facility in Saginaw. She holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and nursing from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. She will represent a member with a background in child and family support and replaces Mary Challiss.

Townsend will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 15, 2021.
