Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Skot Welch of Kentwood to the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council.

Housed within the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the 14-member council advises the Michigan Film Office, governor and Legislature on how to promote and market aspects of the state's film industry.

"Skot’s understanding of the film industry makes him uniquely qualified to help evolve and enhance Michigan’s film industry," Snyder said.

Welch is the founder of the Mosaic Film Experience, the Mosaic Mobile and the Mosaic Community, all of which are geared toward encouraging and providing resources for students to tell their stories through a digital platform. He is also the founder of the global diversity inclusion consulting agency, Global Bridgebuilders. Welch holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and broadcasting from Albion College and a master’s degree in management and international marketing form Aquinas College. He will serve as the nominee of the Senate Majority Leader and replace Sanford Nelson.

Welch will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2019.
