Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Carrie Dudek of Davison and David Szydlowski of Alpena to the Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services.
Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) partners with individuals and employers to achieve quality employment outcomes and independence for individuals with disabilities. The Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services, housed within the Department of Health and Human Services, partners with MRS to evaluate the effectiveness of various vocational rehabilitation programs while serving as an advisory body to the department and the governor.
“I thank Carrie and David for their dedication to ensuring all Michiganders have the resources needed to live independent lives,” Snyder said.
Dudek is an employment and accommodation specialist as well as a community technology center coordinator for The Disability Network in Flint. She also is a planning commissioner for the City of Davison. Dudek holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Ferris State University and a master’s degree in human resource management from Baker College Center for Graduate Studies. She will represent disability advocacy groups and replaces Sharon Bryant.
Szydlowski is the CEO of North Eastern Michigan Rehabilitation and Opportunity Center, Inc. He is a board member and current president of United Way of Northeast Michigan. Szydlowski holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial supervision and management from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lake Superior State University. He will represent community rehabilitation program service providers and replaces Mitch Tomlinson.
Dudek will serve the remainder of a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2019, and Szydlowski will serve a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
