Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Electronic Recording Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Teresa Walker of Atlanta as well as the reappointments of Donna Krall of Royal Oak, Christian Meyer of Grand Rapids, and Thomas Richardson of Ann Arbor to the Electronic Recording Commission.

Housed within the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, the commission establishes standards and practices so county registers of deeds are consistent with the standards and practices of offices in other jurisdictions.

“I thank these individuals for their commitment to this board,” Snyder said. “The work they do benefits the people of Michigan immensely.”

Appointment:

Walker is the Montmorency County register of deeds and president of the Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds. She also is a member of the United County Officer’s Association and previously served two years as the association’s president. She will represent county registers of deeds and replace Lori Wilson.

Reappointments:

Krall is an executive vice president and director of fulfillment and mortgage operations director for Flagstar Bank. She has more than 25 years of banking experience, including time with Citi, JP Morgan Chase, and Washington Mutual. She will continue to represent individuals engaged in the practice of banking.

Meyer is an equity partner at Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, where he has worked for 20 years handling real estate, zoning and property tax matters. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from Calvin College, a master’s degree in government from the University of Notre Dame, and a juris doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He will continue to represent attorneys licensed to practice law in the state and whose expertise emphasizes real property matters.

Richardson is general counsel and CEO of Liberty Title Agency, an underwriter title insurance agency with 13 offices serving much of southeast and mid-Michigan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College and a juris doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He will continue to represent individuals engaged in the land title profession.

Members will serve two-year terms expiring Jan. 1, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
