Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Cylenthia LaToye Miller of Detroit and the reappointments of Kristin Brady of Traverse City, Mark Hoffman of Mason, and Patrick Patterson of DeWitt to the Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness.

Established by Executive Order 2015-2, the Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness was created as an advisory body within the Michigan State Housing Development Authority to develop, adopt and update a 10-year plan to end homelessness. The council is comprised of 13 members appointed by the governor.

"These individuals have dedicated a great deal of time to finding solutions to end homelessness and I thank them for their continued commitment,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Miller has been a judge for the 36th Judicial District Court in Detroit for 12 years and is the founding and presiding judge of the Street Outreach Court Detroit, a specialty court serving homeless citizens. She is also an adjunct professor at Baker College of Allen Park. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Wayne State University and a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law. She will represent the courts and replaces Colleen O’Brien.

Reappointments:

Brady is the director of community services for Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, where she has worked for more than 25 years to end homelessness in Michigan. She is committee co-chair of the Michigan Homeless Policy Advocacy Team, member of the board of directors for the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan, a founding board member of the Michigan Rural Council and a founding board member and past-president of Homestretch Community Development Corporation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan. She will continue to represent the general public.

Hoffman is administration deputy director and chief administrative officer of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and previously served as deputy director of the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Michigan State University. He will continue to serve as the designee of the Director of the Department of Natural Resources. 

Patterson recently served as president and CEO of Volunteers of America Michigan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in environmental law and policy, both from Michigan State University, as well as a master of non-profit management in business from the University of Notre Dame. He will continue to represent the general public.

Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring Jan. 31, 2022.
