Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Michigan Historical Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Delia Fernandez of Lansing to the Michigan Historical Commission.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the nine-member board advises the department and its Michigan History Center on a wide variety of history matters and approves Michigan historical markers.
“I thank Delia for her commitment and service to this commission,” Snyder said.
Fernandez is an assistant professor of history at Michigan State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in history from the Ohio State University. She will represent the general public and replace John Dempsey.
Fernandez will serve a four-year term expiring May 21, 2022. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
