Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Carl Camden of Bloomfield Hills to the Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors.

The 11-member board has authority over economic development and job creation in the state through the Michigan Business Development Program, Michigan Community Revitalization Program, Travel Michigan, private activity bonds, Community Development Block Grant awards, and as fiduciary agent for the 21st Century Jobs Fund.

“Carl’s experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to this board and aid in the development of Michigan’s growing economy,” Snyder said.

Camden recently retired as president and chief executive officer of Kelly Services, Inc. after 22 years of service. He serves on the Board of Trustees of The Conference Board, is co-chair of the Policy and Impact Committee for the Committee for Economic Development and serves on the Board of Directors of TopBuild. Camden holds a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Baptist University, a master’s degree from Central Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. from the Ohio State University. He will represent the private sector and replace Mike McLaughlin.

Camden will serve a four-year term expiring Feb. 28, 2022. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
