Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the MEDC Executive Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Michael McLauchlan of Grosse Pointe Woods and Robert McMahan of Flint, as well as the reappointments of Doug Rothwell of Ann Arbor and Greg Northrup of Grand Rapids to the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Executive Committee.

The 20-member committee is charged with overall management and guidance of MEDC development projects and policy initiatives.

“I am confident these individuals will continue to reinvent Michigan and I thank them for their commitment to our state’s economic development,” Snyder said.

Appointments:

McLauchlan is the vice president of corporate communications for Ilitch Holdings, Inc., previously serving as the senior vice president and manager of government relations for Comerica Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Doctor of Law from Detroit College of Law. He will replace Carl Camden.

Dr. McMahan is the president of Kettering University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and art history from Duke University, a Ph.D. in physics from Dartmouth, and completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard University. He will represent the private sector and replace Gerald Poisson.

Reappointments:

Rothwell is the president and CEO of Business Leaders for Michigan and previously served as the president of Detroit Renaissance. He has been recognized by the National Governors Association with the outstanding public service award and has received the President’s Outstanding Public Service Award from the University of Delaware. Rothwell holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. He will continue to represent the private sector.

Northrup is a Principal with Sustainable Partners LLC and previously served as President of the West Michigan Strategic Alliance (WMSA). He was recently recognized by Business Review for his unrelenting commitment to West Michigan: “Creating a Region – The Challenges of Collaboration.” Northrup holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Albion College. He will continue to represent the private sector.

Members will serve eight-year terms expiring April 5, 2026.
