Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to the Michigan Veterans' Facility Authority Board of Directors

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of John Thorhauer of Chelsea to the Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority Board of Directors.
The nine-member board governs the Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority and consists of the director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and eight members appointed by the governor whom have professional knowledge, skill, or experience in long-term care, health care licensure or finance, or medicine.
“I am confident John will continue to support the board’s service to Michigan veterans,” Snyder said.
Thorhauer served eight years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He is currently the president and CEO of United Methodist Retirement Communities, Inc., and previously served on the Michigan Veterans’ Facilities Board of Managers. Thorhauer holds a bachelor’s degree in management science and a master’s degree in business from Averett College in Virginia. He will continue to represent the interests of one or more congressionally chartered veterans’ organizations.
Thorhauer will serve a four-year term to expire April 15, 2022. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
