LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Steven Davis of Marquette and Bob Wilson of Lansing to the Michigan Trails Advisory Council.
The 11-member board advises the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on the creation, development, operation and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, including, but not limited to, snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle, and skiing trails.
“I thank these two for their commitment to this council,” Snyder said. “I’m confident their work will help create and maintain the vast network of trails here in Michigan.”
Davis is the owner of Upper Peninsula Periodontics, P.C., in Marquette. He is a member of the Noquemanon Trails Network Council, a coach for the Marquette Mountain Racing Team and a member of the 40 Below Marquette County Young Professionals. He holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in biology from Northern Michigan University and a master’s degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan. He will represent non-motorized users and replaces Nancy Krupiarz.
Wilson is the executive director of Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance and is an adjunct professor in environmental law at Michigan State University. He previously served as senior counsel for the Michigan Senate’s Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs and Outdoor Recreation committees. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He will represent non-motorized users and fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Drew Youngdyke.
Davis will serve a four-year term to expire Jan.17, 2021 and Wilson will serve the remainder of a four-year term to expire Jan. 17, 2019.
