LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of William Marvin of Mackinaw City to the Mackinac Island State Park Commission.
Formed in 1895, the commission oversees operations and maintenance of Mackinac State Historic Parks, which include Fort Mackinac, historic downtown Mackinac Island, Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum, Mackinac Island State Park, Colonial Michilimackinac, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse and the Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park.
“This group ensures Mackinac state parks are at their best for all Michiganders, and I thank William for his continued service to this commission,” Snyder said.
Marvin is retired from Michigan Bell, Ameritech and SBC Communications. Previously, he served as an active duty second lieutenant with the U.S. Army Reserve. Marvin serves as president of the Mackinaw Area Historical Society and participates with the Mackinaw Area Chamber of Commerce. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Eastern Michigan University. He will continue to represent residents of Mackinaw City.
Marvin will serve a six-year term expiring April 12, 2024. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
