Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Governor's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Lisa Niergarth of Cedar to the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.

The 11-person board promotes the health, safety and welfare of Michigan's children and families by funding local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.

“Lisa's experience working with children and families gives me confidence she will bring new and diverse perspective to this board," Snyder said. "I thank Lisa for her commitment to keeping Michigan children and families safe.”

Niergarth is a probate court-appointed special advocate in Grand Traverse County and co-founder of Monte Flor Dental Clinic in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. Additionally, she is the secretary for the Glen Lake Community School District Board of Education. Niergarth holds a Master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She will represent a court-appointed special advisor (CASA) member.

Niergarth will serve a term expiring Dec. 31, 2019.
