LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Michael Bigelow of Brooklyn to the Board of Barber Examiners.
The nine-member board is housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and assists the department with oversight for the services of barbers, barber students, barber colleges, barber instructors, student instructors and barbershops in Michigan.
"Michael’s knowledge and skills will provide great insight into the barber field, and I thank him for his willingness to serve on this board," Snyder said.
Bigelow is a licensed barber with 15 years of experience and is currently a manager and barber at Varsity Barber Shop. Bigelow received his barber certificate from Lansing Barber College. He will represent barbers and replace George Pappas.
Bigelow will serve the remainder of a four-year term to expire Sept. 30, 2019. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
