LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Jeffrey Rogers of Royal Oak and Zhiling Trowbridge of Grand Rapids and the reappointments of Beth Converse of West Bloomfield, Julie Silver of Royal Oak and Jonathan Zaidan of Bloomfield Hills to the Michigan Board of Acupuncture.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 13-member board oversees the registration and practice of acupuncture.
“I thank these individuals for their devotion to this board,” Snyder said. “Each person has their own diverse experience with acupuncture that I am confident will be of value to the oversight of this practice.”
Appointments:
Rogers is the owner of Acupuncture Wellness, where he provides treatments influenced by traditional Chinese medicine. He previously worked as an acupuncturist at Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture Healthcare Associates of Michigan. He holds a degree in traditional Chinese medicine from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He will represent acupuncturists and replace Annie Haas.
Trowbridge is a physician with Spectrum Health Medical Group in Grand Rapids. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College and a medical degree from Wayne State University. She will represent physicians and replace Brenda Donaldson.
Reappointments:
Converse is the owner/acupuncturist of B Kohn Converse LLC. She previously served as a staff acupuncturist at the Henry Ford Center for Integrative Medicine. Converse holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine (MTOM) from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She will continue to represent acupuncturists.
Silver is a full-time acupuncturist and the founder and owner of Michigan Associates of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine, Inc. She is a current board member of Yoga by Design Foundation and served as vice president on the board of the Michigan Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Silver holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Western Michigan University, a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University and received a certification in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She will continue to represent acupuncturists.
Zaidan is the president and owner of Women’s Healthcare Associates PLLC. He also serves as the president of Women’s Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Women’s Excellence in Bladder Control, Women’s Excellence in Endometriosis and Women’s Excellence in Midwifery. Zaidan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a doctorate degree from Wayne State University and completed post-graduate training at Rush Presbyterians/St. Luke’s Medical Center. He will continue to represent physicians.
Trowbridge will serve the remainder of a four-year term to expire June 30, 2021. Rogers, Converse and Zaidan will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
