Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Tyler Paesens of Battle Creek and the reappointments of Cynthia Boston of Utica, Kathleen Burgess of Grosse Pointe Farms and Charles Mollien of Wyoming to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy.

Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member board is responsible for regulating and inspecting the practice of pharmacy and drugs manufactured and distributed in the state.

"I thank these individuals for working to keep Michiganders safe and healthy,” Snyder said. “I am confident they will be positive additions to this board.”

Appointment:
Paesens is a detective for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, specializing in narcotics investigations. He holds an associate degree from Kellogg Community College and a bachelor’s degree in education from Olivet College. He will represent the general public and replace Jonathan Pignataro.

Reappointments:
Boston is a clinical pharmacy technician for Molina Healthcare and a pharmacy technician for Beaumont Health. She holds three associate degrees from Macomb Community College and a bachelor’s degree in health science from Oakland University. She will continue to represent pharmacy technicians.  

Burgess is vice president of operations for Dynamic Computer Corporation. She previously served as vice president of finance in North America for MINTH Group, Ltd., president and CEO of her own consulting firm, KMB Advisors, LLC, and served one year as program director for the Detroit Regional Chamber. Burgess holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in finance and operations management from the University of Michigan. She will continue to represent the general public.  

Mollien is a director of pharmacy compliance and a privacy officer for Meijer, Inc. He previously worked for Spectrum Health System – Priority Health as a clinical pharmacy specialist. Mollien holds a master’s degree in pharmacy regulation and policy from the University of Florida, a doctor of pharmacy from Ferris State University, and a law degree from Western Michigan University. He will continue to represent pharmacists.

Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
