LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Anne Mervenne of Royal Oak to the Michigan Community Service Commission.
The 25-member commission fosters a culture of service by providing vision and resources to strengthen communities through volunteerism. It also develops a three-year comprehensive community and national service plan that is updated annually.
“The passion Anne has for community service, along with her great business knowledge will make her a great asset to this commission,” Snyder said.
Mervenne is the CEO of Mervenne & Company, a public affairs consulting company. She also is a board member for the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan Board of Directors and owner and operator of Voyage to Morocco, a travel firm for Moroccan vacations. She recently served as the co-director of the Michigan Political Leadership Program and served under former Gov. John Engler in various roles within the Executive Office of the Governor. Mervenne holds a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from James Madison College at Michigan State University. She will represent Republicans and businesses and replace Fred Mester.
Mervenne will serve the remainder of a three-year term to expire Oct.1, 2020. Her appointment is subject the advice and consent of the Senate.
