LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Teresa Seim of Lawton and the reappointment of Sandra Doud of Brighton Township to the Michigan Board of Optometry.
The nine-member board oversees the licensure requirements and standards for Michigan's more than 1,600 optometrists.
"Teresa and Sandra are accomplished optometrists, and I believe they will be great assets to this board," said Snyder.
Appointment:
Seim is an optometrist and owner of Mattawan Family Eye Care. She also is an optometrist for ACC Health, where she provides vision screenings for military troops and offers presentations to pre-optometry students at Hope College. She has served on several committees for the Michigan Optometric Association, including president and member of the Board of Directors. Seim holds associate degrees from Oakland Community College and Oakland University as well as a bachelor’s degree in vision science and a doctorate in optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University. She will represent optometrists and replace Gregory Patera.
Reappointment:
Doud has been an optometrist at Huron Ophthalmology for nearly 30 years. She is a member of the American and the Michigan Optometric Associations. Doud holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry and mathematics and a doctorate in optometry from Ferris State University. She will continue to represent optometrists.
Members will serve a four-year term expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
