LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Robert Manilla of Clarkston to the Early Stage Venture Investment Corporation Board of Directors.
Established in 2003, the seven-member board encourages a healthy economic climate by fostering job creation, retention and expansion through the promotion of investment in venture capital businesses, specializing in early stage and seed investments. Two of the board positions are filled through recommendations to the Governor from the Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House.
“Robert has been greatly beneficial to this board in the past, and I thank him for continuing to work with the other members to maintain and advance Michigan’s economic vitality,” Snyder said
Manilla is the vice president and chief investment officer of the Kresge Foundation where he is responsible for the investment of the Foundation’s $3.8 billion endowment. He previously worked in capital market management for DaimlerChrysler and has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and finance. Manilla holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Oakland University and a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Detroit Mercy. He will continue to serve as the nominee of the Senate Majority Leader.
Manilla will serve a three-year term expiring June 13, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
