Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointment to the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Joseph Martin of Holt and the reappointment of Jay Meyer of Okemos to the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of Michigan podiatrists.
“The individuals on this board work to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the podiatriac field,” said Snyder. “I thank them for their commitment and service to this board.”
Appointment:
Martin is the chief of staff for the Office of State Senator Jack Brandenburg. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and business administration from Alma College and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He will represent the general public and replace Nathan Tallman.
Reappointment:
Meyer has been in private practice since 1987 and is the owner of Podiatry Plus. He holds staff affiliations with Sparrow Hospital, McLaren Hospital, Michigan Surgical Center and Sparrow Hospital Wound Clinic. Meyer holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Michigan State University and a doctorate in podiatric medicine from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He will continue to represent podiatrists.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2022. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
