Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointment to Employment Relations Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Bob LaBrant of Perry to the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.

The three-member commission is responsible for resolving labor disputes involving public and private-sector employees. No more than two members may belong to the same political party.

"Bob has been a tremendous commissioner and will continue to be an asset in encouraging a spirit of fairness and cooperation between labor and management," Snyder said.

LaBrant is the owner of LaBrant Strategies, LLC and previously served as senior counsel at Sterling Corp. He was an adjunct faculty member at Lansing Community College and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and served as chair of the Michigan Political Leadership Program Advisory Council at Michigan State University. LeBrant was president of the Michigan Political History Society and a captain in the United States Army. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, a graduate certificate from American University and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He will continue to represent Republicans.

LaBrant will serve a three-year term expiring June 30, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
