Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Peter Crawford of Dansville, Dennis Gardner of Saginaw, and Michael Sahr of Saginaw to the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee.
The committee oversees the soybean marketing program in Michigan.
"Agriculture is a cornerstone of Michigan’s economic foundation and our export success largely depends on marketing efforts. I thank these individuals for helping to promote the state’s high-quality soybean products here in Michigan and around the world,” Snyder said.
Crawford has farmed for more than 30 years and is the owner of Crawford Farms, a cash crop and certified seed farm growing soybeans, corn, and wheat. He holds a degree in soil and chemical technology from Michigan State University and will continue to represent District 2.
Gardner has farmed for 25 years and is the co-owner of Gardner Family Farming, LLC, a cash crop and custom harvest operation growing soybeans, corn, sugar beets, and wheat. He also has experience raising beef cattle and a farrow-to-finish hog operation. He will continue to represent District 4.
Sahr has been the owner of Michael Sahr Crop Insurance Agency, LLC, for more than 20 years. He also has farmed for more than 40 years on a Centennial Farm and farms sugar beets, soybeans, dry beans, wheat, and corn. He will continue to represent District 5.
Members serve three-year terms to expire Sept. 23, 2021. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
