LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Dr. Stefani Hines of Farmington to the Michigan Autism Council.
The 12-member council was created by the governor as an advisory body to review, adopt and implement the Michigan Autism Spectrum Disorder State Plan. This plan provides comprehensive lifespan support to individuals with ASD and their families through access to information and resources, coordination of services and implementation of evidence-based practices. The council must update the plan every year.
“I thank Stefani for supporting individuals with ASD and for helping to secure the resources they need to find success in life,” Snyder said.
Hines is a board certified developmental-behavioral pediatrician serving as the medical director for the Autism Evaluation Center and a section head for the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics for Beaumont Children’s Hospital in Royal Oak. Hines holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a medical degree from The Ohio State University. She will represent medical/service centers or health care providers and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Elizabeth Kowal.
Hines will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2020.
