Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to Michigan Board of Dentistry

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment Dr. Vaijanthi Oza of West Bloomfield to the Michigan Board of Dentistry.

The 19-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing and regulating the practice of Michigan’s dental hygienists and dental assistants.

"Dr. Oza has trained and practiced dentistry in many different parts of the worldand I am confident she will bring a great perspective to this board," Snyder said.

Oza is a licensed dentist and the owner of Royal Dental, PC in Pontiac. She holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Bombay in India, a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Windsor in Canada, and a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy. She will represent dentists and fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gregory Heintschel.

Oza will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring June 30, 2020. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
