West Michigan Works! Region has the Greatest Number of Veteran Registered Apprentices in 2024

In 2024, the West Michigan Works! region had the greatest number of active registered apprentices among Michigan Works! areas with 138. Both the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation and Oakland County Michigan Works! areas also had more than 130 veteran active registered apprentices. Veterans accounted for 5.7 percent of all active registered apprentices in the West Michigan Works! region compared to 5.4 percent statewide.
Within the region, one-third of veterans were Electricians while just one-fifth of veterans statewide were Electricians. Plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters (15.9 percent) and Industrial machinery mechanics (12.3 percent) also accounted for a sizable share of veteran active registered apprentices within the West Michigan Works! region.
There were nearly 70 new veteran registered apprentices in 2024 in the West Michigan Works! area, the most since 2019. This accounted for 6.3 percent of all new registered apprentices within the region and 16.2 percent of all new veteran registered apprentices statewide.
