Teen Defensive Driving School - Ironwood

2025-09-27T09:00:00 2025-09-27T16:00:00 Teen Defensive Driving School - Ironwood The Michigan State Police is hosting a free Teen Defensive Driving School at the Gogebic-Iron County Airport on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The course offers three hours of hands-on, behind-the-wheel instruction using MSP patrol vehicles. The program is designed for teens who hold a Level 1 Graduated Driver License (GDL).

Led by Michigan State Troopers, the course helps young drivers sharpen their skills and build confidence through real-world driving scenarios and one-on-one coaching. Teens will learn important driving skills including defensive driving, serpentine maneuvering, controlled braking, and evasive maneuvers. Students will be able to positively interact with MSP troopers and learn about MSP career opportunities.

There are two classes available - one from 9 a.m. to noon followed by 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration is required. Space is limited to the first 24 participants. Contact Trooper Joe Renaud to sign up.
