Competitive Grant Applications Open for Programs Supporting Limited English-Speaking and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Training
February 18, 2026
The Michigan State Police (MSP) Grants and Community Services Division (GCSD) is accepting applications from Michigan entities who provide law enforcement training for communication with limited English-speaking communities and those who are deaf and hard of hearing.
Thanks to funding appropriated in the state’s fiscal year 2026 budget, these agencies can apply for up to $450,000 to be used for programmatic and operational expenses.
“Effective communication is an essential component of policing,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. “This training is another valuable tool we can equip our officers with to best serve the public and help prevent potentially dangerous misunderstandings that can occur when someone finds it difficult to understand what the other is trying to communicate.”
A completed grant application must be submitted to the MSP GCSD before 12 p.m. EST on April 1, 2026.
Detailed grant information and applications are available on the MSP GCSD website.
