JACKSON, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Travis Thomas, 56 of Jackson, for aggravated child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.
Thomas was arrested following an investigation which was initiated when a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A search warrant was conducted at Thomas’ residence where digital evidence was seized.
Thomas was charged with two counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and as a 4th habitual offender. Thomas was arraigned in the 12th District Court in Jackson on Wednesday, July 22. Thomas was issued a $500,000 bond.
If convicted, Thomas faces up to 20 years in prison for aggravated child sexually abusive activity, up to 20 years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime, and life in prison if convicted with the habitual offender notice.
The Michigan ICAC Task Force was assisted by the Ann Arbor Police Department, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan Department of Corrections.
