Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Detroit River, downtown Detroit, Milliken State Park and Canada, all from your event/meeting room at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Whether it’s a corporate training retreat, a small business meeting, a wedding or a large-scale gala, we have a fun and unique place to host it.

Rooms and descriptions

Riverview Loft

Weddings, meetings, banquets and other large events are a great fit for this beautiful industrial loft. The Riverview Loft, which holds 182 guests, has views of the Detroit River and a lighthouse and comes equipped with its own LCD projector, screen and podium.

Forest Room

Great for meetings and intimate gatherings, the Forest Room can hold up to 100 people. This room has its own LCD projector, screen and podium. Take in the views of Detroit’s downtown skyline, the Detroit River and Canada from the Forest Room.

Discovery Lab Room

Boasting some of the same views as the Riverview Loft, this room is great for breakout sessions and catering set-ups. The Discovery Lab Room is available as an add-on to other room rentals.

Lodge

A 16-foot pine table, made just for the Lodge, is the centerpiece of this room, which seats up to 12 guests. A faux fireplace adds to the Lodge’s coziness. This room is great for board meetings and cozy events.

OAC exclusive use

Give your guests the V.I.P. experience by renting out the entire OAC for your next wedding, family reunion or other event! Exclusive use of our three-story, 41,000-square-foot facility includes all event and meeting spaces, audio-visual equipment, and all exhibits and simulated rides.

General information about room rentals and events

Minimum rental times

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., there is a minimum rental time of two hours. Weekend rentals and weekday rentals starting after 3 p.m. have a three-hour minimum.

Deposits

Your date will not be held until the deposit is made. Deposit is 100% of the room rental fee, $500 security deposit and, if applicable, $100 alcohol fee. If no damage or additional fees are assessed to the Outdoor Adventure Center, the full security deposit will be refunded within four to six weeks after your event.

Food and beverage

The Outdoor Adventure Center does not offer catering services; however, we do have a list of catering companies for your food and beverage needs. If you decide to use a vendor who is not on our list, the company you use must provide a current certificate of insurance, valid ServSafe, National Registry of Food Service Professionals or Prometric certification and valid health department license.

There is a $100 fee for including alcohol service with your event. Your servers must show valid TIPs (Training for Intervention Procedures) certification and driver’s license.

All food, beverage services and entertainment must end by 11 p.m. At this time guests must vacate the premises of the Outdoor Adventure Center. All breakdown services must be completed by 12 a.m. All equipment/set-ups (catering, decorations, party rentals, etc.) must be picked up the day of the event.

Parking

Parking is available at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Metro Valet Parking oversees the black-gated lot next to the Outdoor Adventure Center. Charges may occur after 3 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends. Please contact Jennifer Van Pelt, director of business strategy, at 313-402-3774 for questions regarding parking rates. Your guests may also park at any legal street spaces near our center.

Explore the Outdoor Adventure Center

Your guests may do a self-guided tour of the Outdoor Adventure Center. The cost is $2 per person to enjoy the exhibits and simulators during regular business hours. This fee will be charged to your invoice.
