Sturgeon Point State Park
Sturgeon Point State Park
Sturgeon Point State Park, situated five miles north of Harrisville on Lake Huron, features the historic Sturgeon Point Lighthouse. Built to warn mariners of a 1.5-mile reef, this Cape Cod-style lighthouse boasts a 70-foot tower and a 3.5-order Fresnel lens, crafted in Paris. While the lens is no longer operational, the lighthouse tower and keeper's house now serve as a maritime museum, open to the public from Memorial Day to mid-September. The park grounds are accessible year-round, with parking available.
Directions: Take U.S. 23 north approximately 3 miles out of Harrisville, turn right onto Lakeshore Drive and continue approximately 1 mile to Point Road. Turn east onto Point Road and continue approximately 1 mile to the gravel road on the left that enters the lighthouse parking area. It's a short walk down the road to the lighthouse.
