Negwegon State Park
Negwegon State Park is a rustic, undeveloped area popular with birdwatchers, hikers, backcountry campers, hunters and beachgoers. The 4,000-acre park features 8 miles of Lake Huron lakeshore, including 1 mile of beautiful sandy beach.
Home to a mixture of lowland areas, small ridges and pockets of open meadows, with a mix of mature pine, hardwood and aspen forest, the park is rich in unique plant species and wildlife, including bald eagles, Pitcher's thistle, Blanding's turtles and more.
Negwegon is also home to a designated dark sky preserve, providing awesome opportunities to view the night sky.

Hunting is allowed in the state park; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations
Paddling
Paddlers can explore the Lake Huron shoreline. Carry-in access is located approximately 200 feet from the parking area of the campground.
Pet-friendly features
Pets are allowed along most of the Lake Huron shoreline. Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles.

Negwegon Rustic Hike-in/Paddle-in Campground
Reservations are available six months in advance. Self-registration is no longer available.
Four hike-in campsites are available April through November. The campsites are located approximately 1.1 to 2.2 miles from the main parking lot off Sand Hill Trail. Trails are mostly flat with few elevation changes
- Site #1: Blue Bell (1.1 miles), 44 52.033 N x -83 19.003 W.
- Site #2: Twin Pines (1.6 miles), 44 52.310 N x -83 19.180 W.
- Site #3: Pewabic (1.8 miles), 44 52.437 N x -83 19.175 W.
- Site #4: South Point (2.2 miles), 44 52.875 N x -83 18.957 W.
Sites are outfitted with a fire ring and cooking grate, a picnic table, a bear pole (campers must provide their own rope), a bear box and a backcountry composting privy. Potable water is available from a well located between the parking lot and the beach.
