Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions
and State Construction Code Commission. – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Board of Speech Language Pathology, Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission, Correctional Officers’ Training Council, Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, State Building Authority Board of Trustees, LANSING, Mich.
Michigan Board of Speech Language Pathology
Ericka A. Shuptar of East Lansing, is a speech language pathologist with Capitol Area Physical Therapy Associates. Ms. Shuptar is appointed to succeed Brit Austin to represent speech language pathologists for a term expiring December 31, 2022.
The Michigan Board of Speech Language Pathology oversees the licensure and practices of speech language pathologists. It promotes and protects the public's health, safety, and welfare and to take disciplinary action against licensees.
The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission
Mr. Cosgrove is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 18, 2019..is the director of the office of Veteran and Military Affairs at Lansing Community College from 2006 to 2008. He Andrew M. Cosgrove of Grand Ledge, served in the Michigan Army National Guard
is the president of AARP Chapter 5291. Mr. Craig is appointed to succeed Jeffrey Schuett to represent the general public for a term expiring December 18, 2020.served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. He Danny Craig of Detroit,
is a retired general manager of Kendall Electric. Mr. Quinn is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 18, 2019. from 1969 to 1970. He Gary C. Quinn of East Lansing, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War
The Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission advises the Department of Technology, Management and Budget on the development, management, and maintenance of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Park in Lansing, the operation of programs exclusive to the park, and the security services and enforcement of rules for the care and preservation of the park.

Correctional Officers’ Training Council

The Michigan Correctional Officers’ Training Council does the following: develops, approves, and updates course content of the vocational certificate program for applicants to meet the educational requirements to be employed as a state corrections officer; develops, approves, and updates minimum requirements with regards to recruitment and selection for new state corrections officers; develops, approves, and updates standards for the certification, recertification, and decertification of state corrections officers; reviews and approves course content or course topics for the initial and ongoing training of state corrections officers.

Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Dr. Debera H. Eggleston, M.D. of Ada, previously served as the chief medical director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services MSA/Medicaid Division. Dr. Eggleston is appointed to succeed David Neff to represent the Department of Health and Human Services for a term expiring October 1, 2020.
The Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee advises the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on issues affecting prescription drug coverage for its various health care programs.
The appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
State Building Authority Board of Trustees
Patrick J. Devlin of Livonia, is the secretary-treasurer for the Michigan Building & Construction Trades Council. Mr. Devlin is appointed to succeed James Mburu to represent the general public for a term expiring August 21, 2021.
The purpose of the State Building Authority Board of Trustees is to acquire, construct, furnish, equip, renovate, buildings and equipment for the use of the State, including public universities and community colleges.
This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
State Construction Code Commission
David C. Tomlinson of Metamora, is the company superintendent for Pontiac Ceiling & Partitions. Mr. Tomlinson is appointed to succeed James Cripps to represent the field of building contracting for a term expiring January 31, 2023.
Jonathon Jackson of Carleton, is an architect with Ghafari Associates LLC. Mr. Jackson is appointed to succeed Frederick F. Butters to represent the field of architecture for term expiring January 31, 2023.
The State Construction Code Commission was created to improve the quality of housing for Michigan residents while assisting the housing industry. The Commission appoints the members to the Building Officials Advisory Board.
