Gov. Whitmer Signs Proclamation Marking Buy Nearby Weekend
LANSING — Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a proclamation declaring October 4th- October 6th as Buy Nearby Weekend.
“When more people support their local businesses and buy Michigan products, we can boost our economy, create jobs, and connect business owners with the talent they need to thrive in their communities,” said Gov. Whitmer. “I encourage all Michiganders to take the time this weekend to check out the businesses in their area. Our families, our communities, and our economy will all be better off because of it.”
Buy Nearby is an ongoing, year-round campaign to encourage Michiganders to buy from retail businesses where they live, work, or visit in Michigan instead of making out-of-state online purchases. This campaign helps more shopping dollars stay in our local communities and state economy.
During Buy Nearby weekend residents should take time to shop with family and friends in support of their communities and local retailers.
