VIDEO: Governor Whitmer Brings Together Bipartisan Group of Midwest Governors to Encourage Vaccinations

LANSING, Mich. -  Today, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz joined together to release a video on social media urging Midwesterners to get the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines and thanking those who have already done so.

"We've made incredible progress in the fight against COVID-19, thanks to everyone who has stepped up and gotten vaccinated," said Governor Whitmer. "Because of you, we are able to take steps towards a return to normalcy and enjoying the summer we have all been craving. That said, there is still more work to do. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please talk to a trusted health care provider about how the vaccine can keep you, your loved ones, your community, and the most vulnerable among us safe. Vaccinated Michiganders now also have a chance to win more than $5 million in cash prizes and college scholarships through the MI Shot to Win Sweepstakes."

On July 1st, Governor Whitmer announced the MI Shot to Win Sweepstakes, a lottery-style raffle that gives vaccinated Michiganders a chance to win $5 million in cash and a combined total of nearly $500,000 in college scholarships, to help move the state closer to its goal of equitably vaccinating at least 70% of Michiganders ages 16 and older as soon as possible. To date, Michigan has administered 9,024,741 vaccines, and 61.8% of Michiganders have received their initial dose of the vaccine.
