Gov. Whitmer Makes Appointments to the Bench
LANSING, Mich. —Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the upcoming appointment of Christopher Burnett to the 57th District Court in Allegan County.
"Today, I am proud to appoint Christopher Burnett to the bench," said Governor Whitmer. "Christopher is a skilled legal professional and dedicated member of the community. He brings years of experience to this new role, and I am certain he will serve the people of Michigan and uphold the rule of law."
57th District Court – Allegan County
Christopher Burnett currently works as an attorney at Burnett and Kastran, P.C. in Allegan, Michigan, where he has practiced since 2005. Burnett serves as a board member on the Streidl scholarship committee and previously served as a member and chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Allegan. Burnett is a member of the Allegan County Bar Association, where he previously served as president, vice president, and treasurer.
Christopher Burnett received a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University, and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
“As a lifelong resident of Allegan County, it is my highest honor to be appointed to serve as a District Court Judge for the community in which I live and have built my career over the last 20 years,” said Burnett. “My dedication to dignity and justice will help me with serving as the next Allegan District Court Judge.”
This appointment will be made to fill a partial term following the resignation of Judge William Baillargeon. Judge Burnett’s term will commence on August 4, 2025, and expire at twelve o’clock noon on January 1, 2027.
