WHEREAS, Careers in Insurance Month is designated to increase public awareness about the challenging and rewarding careers in the insurance industry; and,
WHEREAS, the insurance industry is a significant economic partner in Michigan, employing more than 56,000 individuals in the state; and,
WHEREAS, the insurance industry is growing and will be in need of employees over the next ten years as 40 percent of the current workforce reaches retirement age; and,
WHEREAS, the Insuring MI Future Coalition is promoting careers in insurance through career fairs, social media, and collaborations with colleges and universities; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of Insuring MI Future is to attract talent to an industry that provides good wages, room for advancement, and rewarding work;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 2021 as Careers in Insurance Month in Michigan.
