WHEREAS, the University of Michigan and Michigan State University football teams have met 114 times; and,
WHEREAS, while Michigan State has won many of the more recent match-ups, Michigan leads the head-to-head series overall 71-38-5; and,
WHEREAS, the Wolverines will host the Spartans in the Big House – the best stadium in college football – on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST; and,
WHEREAS, Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are the leaders and the best and are ready for Saturday’s blue out; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan football is undefeated going into this rivalry match-up and will surely remain undefeated after it; and,
WHEREAS, the Paul Bunyan trophy belongs in Ann Arbor; and,
WHEREAS, during this week, we encourage all Michiganders to embrace this historic rivalry and the high stakes this game surely represents for every family, but especially the houses divided;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 24-29, 2022, as Go Blue! Week in Michigan.
