July 20 - 26, 2025: Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week

WHEREAS, Michigans’s community corrections professionals are an essential part of our criminal justice system, safeguarding the public from criminal activity while positively impacting the lives of those placed under their supervision; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals are responsible for supervising adult and juvenile offenders in the community; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals are skilled professionals who act as coaches, role models, motivators, and experts in crisis intervention; and,

WHEREAS, these and other skills are put to use on a daily basis to help supervised individuals reach sobriety, obtain employment, strengthen bonds with family and the community and countless other markers of success; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals work in partnership with community agencies and groups to promote prevention, intervention and advocacy; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals provide services, support, and protection for victims; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals advocate community and restorative justice; and,

WHEREAS, community corrections professionals are a true force for positive change in their communities and we thank them for their service to our state:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, and Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim July 20-26, 2025, as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week in Michigan.
