October 19-25, 2025: Doctor of Nursing Practice Week

WHEREAS, Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNPs) represent the highest level of clinical nursing expertise, combining advanced practice nursing skills with scientific inquiry and leadership to transform healthcare delivery; and,

WHEREAS, DNP-prepared nurses serve as clinical experts, healthcare leaders, policy advocates, educators, and innovators who are essential to meeting the complex healthcare needs of our communities; and,

WHEREAS, DNP professionals advance healthcare quality through the implementation of evidence-based practices, systems leadership, and advocating for healthcare policy that improves outcomes; and,

WHEREAS, the DNP degree prepares nurses to address healthcare inequities, promote health equity through targeted action on social determinants of health, and develop sustainable solutions to complex healthcare challenges; and, 

WHEREAS, DNP-prepared nurses have been instrumental in responding to public health emergencies by providing leadership in crisis management, clinical practice innovation, and population health initiatives; and,

WHEREAS, the contributions of DNP-prepared nurses to healthcare systems result in improved patient outcomes, enhanced quality of care, reduced healthcare costs, and advancements in nursing science;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 19-25, 2025, as Doctor of Nursing Practice Week in Michigan and encourage all citizens to recognize the vital contributions of DNP-prepared nurses to our healthcare system and the health of our communities.
