March 2026: Nutrition Month in Michigan

WHEREAS, the type, quality, and amount of food that individuals consume each day plays a vital role in their overall health and physical fitness; and,
WHEREAS, there is a need for continuing nutrition education and a wide-scale effort to enhance healthy eating practices; and,
WHEREAS, during this month, we join with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Division and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as many local and regional dietetic associations statewide to celebrate, raise awareness, and support the important role nutrition plays in daily lives;
WHEREAS, this year’s theme of Discover the Power of Nutrition promotes the connection of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits to help individuals and communities thrive;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 2026 as Nutrition Month in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens to be proactive about their nutrition and mindful of the nutrition of others in the hope of achieving a healthier Michigan.
