WHEREAS, regular cleaning and disinfection are an investment in human health and safety; and,
WHEREAS, in schools, improved air quality is linked to fewer illness-related absences and better standardized-test performance; and,
WHEREAS, according to the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), cleaned and disinfected surfaces reduce virus concentration by 41.7%; when combined with hand hygiene, this increases to 85.4%; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of Michigan proudly support and join in this international celebration of the cleaning and facility-solutions industry, and bring attention to the importance of ensuring clean and sanitary conditions at work, in schools, and at home; now
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 22 – 28, 2026, as Cleaning Week in Michigan.
