MARQUETTE – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced that her Upper Peninsula Office is open and ready for business. Located in Marquette, the office will focus on constituent concerns and issues, including rural economic development, public policy, environmental land use, and tourism. The Upper Peninsula office will serve all 15 counties in the Upper Peninsula.
The Upper Peninsula Office will house two full-time staff, including Director Matt Johnson and Executive Assistant Peggy Cleary.
“The Upper Peninsula may represent only 3 percent of Michigan’s population, but the U.P. makes up 30 percent of our state,” said Granholm. “This office will allow me to cross the bridge on a daily basis and allow citizens of the Upper Peninsula access to the administration. I hope that everyone in the Upper Peninsula will take the opportunity to work directly with this office on their concerns and ideas.”
The Governor’s staff will be available to the public by appointment during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday though Friday. Please contact the Upper Peninsula Office to arrange a meeting:
