Governor Appoints Stephen Borrello Judge of 4th District Court of Appeals
May 20, 2003
LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Stephen Borrello as Judge of the 4th District Court of Appeals.
“Stephen will be a vigorously fair judge for the people of Michigan,” Granholm said. “I know he will make an excellent judge and serve the Court of Appeals and the citizens well.”
Borrello, of Saginaw, most recently served as an attorney and partner with the law firm Gilbert, Smith & Borrello, P.C., where his list of clients included Saginaw elected officials and the City of Saginaw. He also served as general counsel for the Michigan State Building and Construction Trades Council. Borrello began as an associate with the firm in 1990.
Previously, Borrello served as an assistant prosecuting attorney from 1988 to 1990 in the Saginaw County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office where he was assigned major felony cases.
Borrello earned his law degree from Detroit College of Law and graduated from Albion College.
He replaces Judge Gary McDonald who retired, creating a vacancy in the 4th District Court of Appeals. Borrello’s term will expire January 1, 2007.
