Governor Granholm Announces Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Correctional Officer’s Training Council, the Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority, State Higher Education Facilities Commission, and Utility Consumer Participation Board.
Correctional Officer’s Training Council
Ms. Luella Burke of Scottville, currently the co-executive director of the Association of Women Executives in Corrections. Burke is re-appointed representing the general public for a term expiring March 30, 2006.
Dr. Avon Burns of Flint, a coordinator and professor in the criminal justice program at Mott Community College. Burns is representing two-year community colleges and is appointed for a term expiring March 29, 2006.
Mr. Rudolph Serra of Detroit, an attorney with his own practice. Serra is representing the general public for a term expiring March 30, 2006.
Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority
Mr. Harvey Bronstein of Southfield, a professor at Oakland Community College. Bronstein is representing community colleges and is appointed for a term expiring May 22, 2007.
State Higher Education Facilities Commission
Ms. Glenda Price of Detroit, the president of Marygrove College. Price is representing private colleges and universities and is appointed for a term expiring May 22, 2007.
Utility Consumer Participation Board
Sister Monica Kostielney, R.S.M. of Lansing, the president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Catholic Conference. Kostielney succeeds David Balas, who has resigned, for a term expiring January 11, 2005.
Mr. Stanley Steinborn of East Lansing based upon a submission from the Attorney General for a term expiring January 11, 2005.
