LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Cynthia Thomas Walker as Judge of the 50th District Court, serving the City of Pontiac.
“Cynthia will be an honest and fair judge for the people of Michigan,” Granholm said. “She is committed to serving the citizens of Pontiac in the courtroom as well as in the community.”
Walker, of Pontiac, most recently served as court administrator for the 50th District Court where she managed the administrative and quasi-judicial functions of the court.
Previously, Walker served as deputy city attorney for the City of Pontiac where she prosecuted criminal misdemeanor and civil city ordinance violations. She also served as a staff attorney for the Michigan offices of UAW Legal Services.
Walker earned her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana and received her bachelor’s of arts degree from Carthage College in Wisconsin.
She replaces Judge William Waterman who passed away in April, creating a vacancy. Walker’s term will expire January 1, 2005.
