Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Gaming Control Board

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm announced the following recent appointments to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Damian Kassab of Rochester, chairman of Warren Bank. Mr. Kassab is designated as chairperson of the board to serve at the pleasure of the Governor. He was originally appointed to the board in August 2003 for a term expiring December 31, 2004, succeeding Larry Garberding who had resigned.

The Honorable Benjamin Friedman of Huntington Woods, partner of Friedman & Lichterman, P.C. law firm and previous 45B District Court judge. Judge Friedman is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2007. He succeeds The Honorable Roman S. Gribbs whose term has expired.

Donald Robinson of Detroit, president of Donald L. Robinson & Associates consulting firm. Mr. Robinson is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2004. He succeeds the late Geraldine Bledsoe Ford.

Barbara Rom of Bloomfield Hills, partner of Pepper Hamilton, LLP law firm in Detroit. Ms. Rom is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2007. She succeeds Ritchie T. Davis whose term has expired.

The board is responsible for overseeing the licensing and control of casino gaming operations, manufacturers of gaming devices, and gaming employees.

These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
