Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Truck Safety Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm announced the following recent appointments to the Michigan Truck Safety Commission.
Gail Clifford of Southfield, operation manager for Auto Club Insurance Association, appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 4, 2005. She succeeds Gerald Basch whose term has expired.
Jacqueline El-Sayed, PhD of Bloomfield Hills, associate professor at Kettering University, appointed to represent 4-year colleges or universities for a term expiring August 4, 2005. She succeeds William C. Taylor whose term has expired.
Robert McFarland of Orchard Lake, attorney and shareholder at Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C., appointed to represent private motor carriers for a term expiring August 4, 2005. He succeeds Roger A. Barense whose term has expired.
James Parrinello of Macomb Township, Michigan joint council organizer for Teamsters Joint Council #43, appointed to represent organized labor for a term expiring August 4, 2005. He succeeds Gordon L. Vorce whose term has expired.
James Van Zoeren of Kalamazoo, president and CEO of Alvan Motor Freight, Inc., appointed to represent the Michigan Trucking Association for a term expiring August 4, 2005. He succeeds Patrick J. Parker whose term has expired.
James Wardlaw of Lansing, president and owner of Publicom, Inc., appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 4, 2005. He succeeds Mary Ellen Sheets whose term has expired.
John Theroux of Holt, truck driver training instructor at Lansing Community College, reappointed to represent two year community colleges for a term expiring August 4, 2005.
The commission is responsible for expenditures of the truck safety fund and also receives donations and establishes truck driver safety education classes.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the senate.
