LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm offered her hearty congratulations today to the University of Michigan on its receipt of the largest gift ever in the University’s history.
A $100 million gift was given to the University’s business school by Stephen M. Ross, chairman and chief executive of the Related Companies in New York. An alumnus of the University, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1962.
We are floored by Mr. Ross’ generosity,” said Governor Granholm. “This gift will position Michigan’s business school to be the best in the nation, and will significantly propel our efforts to make the state of Michigan a global economic powerhouse in the 21st Century.”
Founded in 1817, The University of Michigan is one of the United States’ great universities and one of the world's premiere research institutions. Its business school is consistently rated among the top ten in the country.
