Governor Granholm Announces New Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointment to the Small Business Clean Air Compliance Advisory Panel, Agriculture Preservation Fund Board, and Upper Peninsula State Fair Board of Managers:

Small Business Clean Air Compliance Advisory Panel

Betty M. Gajewski of Grand Rapids, former senior environmental engineer for Steelcase.  Ms. Gajewski is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring February 17, 2008.  She succeeds Nancy A. Smith whose term has expired. 

Sister Virginia A. Jones of Kalamazoo, educator and spiritual director for Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth, MI.  Sister Jones is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring February 17, 2008.  She succeeds John T. Doering whose term has expired. 

Agriculture Preservation Fund Board

Eddie A. Moore of Okemos, professor for the Department of Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies at the Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  Mr. Moore is appointed to represent agricultural interests for a term expiring August 29, 2008.  He succeeds Robert D. Zeeb whose term has expired. 

Gilbert M. White of Haslett, owner of Gilbert M. White Realtor, and president of the Michigan Association of Realtors.  Mr. White is reappointed to represent development interests for a term expiring August 29, 2008.

The above appointments and reappointment are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. 

Upper Peninsula State Fair Board of Managers

Stewart A. Ouwinga of Bark River, biology and science teacher for Escanaba Area Public Schools.  Mr. Ouwinga is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring September 30, 2009.  He succeeds William Pesola whose term has expired. 

This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
